Show Math in class


Since 2005, Show Math is in full swing. The teachers, strongly interested in our approach, appreciate the impact that Show Math has on the management of their classroom and the motivational dynamic of their students. Therefore, to step up to their requests, we wanted to provide an appropriate educational support to the various school members (students, teachers, counselors, administrators, etc..).



Since the beginning of 2008, an important partner has joined the SMAC team. Indeed, the Ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation (MDEIE) helps fund our new project launched in March 2009: the educational kit Show Math in class.



Show Math in class is a collection of mathematical activities distributed to every school hosting Show Math since April 2009. The activities, inspired by Show Math, are developed according to the "Programme de formation de l'école Québécoise". They are designed to prepare students for the venue of Show Math and to enable them to deepen their understanding of topics and concepts that will be presented during the show. In doing so, we believe that the impact of the event will be extended by Show Math in class thanks to the collaboration of the MDEIE. However, students can enjoy the activities presented in Show Math in class without having seen Show Math!

The activities are designed in fun and original ways. It is a nice educational tool, intended to help teachers and to catch students' attention. Show Math in class supports the human and creative dimensions of science, promoted by SMAC. It is also linked with the Personal Orientation Project (POP).
